Interventional Pain Management

Dr. Jerry Thomas is a Board-Certified physician who specializes in interventional pain management. He is a native New Yorker who knew from an early age that he wanted to become a physician, completing his degree through a seven-year accelerated BS/DO program at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating top five percent of his class. He then went on to complete a medicine and surgical transitional internship year through Northwell Health, Plainview Hospital, where he was awarded Intern of the Year. He subsequently did his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital under both The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. He had additional extensive training with sports medicine specialists at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery and with cancer pain specialists at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Thomas decided to pursue further training to advance his skillset where he completed an accredited ACGME fellowship in interventional pain medicine through the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI.

He returns to serve the Long Island community, once again, under the Pain Institute of Long Island with the hope of providing world class care to the region. Having performed a multitude of interventional procedures over the past few years, Dr. Thomas specializes in the diagnosis and management of back and neck problems, along with neuropathic, somatic, visceral, and cancer pain.

Dr. Thomas individualizes his treatment plan for each patient; he feels that educating a patient is his priority and will recommend all possible treatment options during his consultations so that patients remain in control of their health. His goal is to get you back to being active.

He has been a member of several professional membership societies and continues to provide lectures both in the academic and community settings, to both residents and patients alike.
